Dodgers Claim Thrilling 2024 Grand Final Victory

Dodgers snatched the lead late in their 4-3 Grand Final victory over Falcons on Sunday.

 

The game was tied at three in the top of the seventh when Anthony Amsing hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

 

A single by Amsing put Dodgers on the board in the top of the first.

 

Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Jaysen Strahan singled, scoring two runs, to give Falcons the edge, 2-1.

Callum Bolton grounded out, which helped Dodgers tie the game at two in the top of the fifth.

​

Falcons then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth.  Darryl Munns hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Falcons a 3-2 lead.

​

In the top of the seventh inning, Dodgers went back into the lead after Callum Bolton tripled, and Anthony Amsing hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

 

Rod Baulch earned the win for Dodgers. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Darryl Munns took the loss for Falcons. The reliever went one inning, allowing one run on two hits, striking out two and walking one.

 

Callum Bolton stepped on the mound first for Dodgers. The pitcher allowed five hits and three runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking four.  Bailey Waterman was on the hill first for Falcons. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking two.

Dodgers collected 10 hits in the game. Jack Warner and Callum Bolton were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Dodgers while Anthony Amsing and Callum Bolton were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Dodgers.  Brett Ritchie and Jack Warner each stole multiple bases giving Dodgers nine stolen bases in the game.

 

Jaysen Strahan drove the middle of the lineup, leading Falcons with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-1 on the day. Darryl Munns led Falcons with two hits in two at bats.
